Finding the Right Budget for Your Resume
Finding the Right Budget for Your ResumeIt's important to have a budget for your resume, whether you're a current college student or an employer looking to fill a position. As we learned last time, there are many factors that go into selecting the right resume. Whether you're trying to land a job as a nurse or a police officer, you need to write a resume that shows an interest in the position. Knowing what you're looking for can make a difference between getting the job and letting it slip through your fingers. When researching the employer, you'll need to know what kinds of jobs they're hiring for. Do they need technical or medical workers? If you're applying for a job as a tax accountant, chances are that they'll want to see some proof of education, but they may not need to see a CV. Make sure you have proof that you graduated from an accredited school.Another thing you'll need to consider is what kind of budget you have available. Some employers will set their own budget, while oth ers will expect you to give them a breakdown of your expenses. For the smaller budget positions, it can be easier to do without the financial breakdown of your expenses.Once you've done your research, you'll need to find out how much is a budget work? How much is a budget? This can often be harder than it seems. While some employers will pay on a per-job basis, some prefer to pay a flat rate. For those on a more basic budget, you'll need to save money for several months before you apply for a job. One way to save money is to start applying for jobs before you get paid. You can save by working a part-time job, but when you go back and look at your past employment, you might find something on your resume that you forgot about. Just remember that it can take a few months before you start making a decent amount of money. For the budget resume, you should also look at what materials you'll need to create your resume. This includes paper, folders, and pens. Make sure you have the right tool s for the job. Most employers pay for a professional looking resume, so don't let yourself down by using photocopies of previous work. Remember that if the employer wants to hire you, they'll need to read your resume. The bottom line is that it's important to have a budget for your resume, no matter what job you're applying for. While you want to leave your resume alone, you do need to ensure that you have a working budget for it. When you do, you'll have a clear outline to work from when you're looking for a job.

Its Not In Your Head 4 Signs Your Boss Is Setting You Up to Fail
Its Not In Your Head 4 Signs Your Boss Is Setting You Up to Fail In most cases, its not advisable for a professional to make a habit of blaming otzu sichs for the less-than-ideal parts of their work life. Taking responsibility for your own actions contributes tremendously to your overall sense of satisfaction in the office, and believing that your anfhrer or your colleagues have it out for you wont improve an undesirable situation. However, in certain circumstances, its possible the manager youre working under truly doesnt have your ability to succeed at heart. One common way to spot this type of supervisor is by observing the way they react to mistakes. A manager who isnt motivated by the idea of their employees succeeding may respond to a mistake in an unconstructive manner, precipitating a pattern of dysfunction that can only be described as a vicious cycle. 1. After you make a minor error, your babo switches abruptly from a mora relaxed and amiable management style to a very hand s-on (and hypercritical) one. While mistakes made at work can cause challenges and annoyances, strong managers know that their employees are human and that the occasional error will occur. Managers with an investment in maintaining good relationships with their subordinates address the mistakes in a timely fashion and then work with the employee to prevent their repetition. However, a less-capable manager may react to a minor mistake with a full 180-degree shift in attitude and approach. Even if shes typically pretty relaxed, shell suddenly turn a laser focus on you, expecting you to double and triple-check each assignment, requiring you to obtain official approval before starting routine tasks, and outwardly questioning your input at team meetings.2. If you (understandably) react to your bosss new micromanagement by becoming more withdrawn, she responds by making her lack of confidence more blatant.Harvard Business Review describes the fallout of a bosss sudden hypervigilance like so These actions are intended to boost performance and prevent the subordinate from making errors. Unfortunately, however, subordinates often interpret the heightened supervision as a lack of trust and confidence. In time, because of low expectations, they come to doubt their own thinking and ability, and they lose the motivation to make autonomous decisions or to take any action at all. The boss, they figure, will just question everything they door do it himself anyway.TLDR Your bosss obvious lack of confidence will drain your morale and cause you to second-guess everything you do at work, compromising your confidence and efficiency.3. Your boss stops assigning you your expected workload.Ultimately, your bosss refusal to let you work autonomously becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. Your work performance suffers as a result, and your boss may choose to respond by cutting back on your assignment load.Of course, this only inflates the problem, as HBR points out. What bosses typically do not realize is that their tight controls end up hurting subordinates performance by undermining their motivation in two ways first, by depriving subordinates of autonomy on the job and, second, by making them feel undervalued. Tight controls are an indication that the boss assumes the subordinate cant perform well without strict guidelines. When the subordinate senses these low expectations, it can undermine his self-confidence, HBR writers Jean-Franois Manzoni and Jean-Louis Barsoux explain.4. Eventually, your boss avoids you entirely unless its absolutely necessary. This cycle hinges on a lack of communication the boss responds to an error in a disproportionate manner, the employee feels confused and devalued, and no one directly addresses these disparities, allowing them to grow and deepen. The end point may come when the employee quits or the manager chooses to fire that person, but if it never escalates to that point, you could just end up with a silent-treatment dynamic between the boss and her report. Obviously, this tactic isnt advisable or productive, and it threatens to damage the performance of the team as a whole. These signs suggest a borderline-toxic relationship between an employee and her supervisor, and the regrettable persistence of the cycle makes it a difficult pattern to break. Addressing the issues directly with your boss might provide you with an opening to change direction, but if your boss doesnt tend to approach problems in a reasonable manner, shining a light on the issue might exacerbate this negative dynamic.--

Are Aggressive Job Seekers Good - Spark Hire
Are Aggressive Job Seekers Good - Spark HireIt can be easily assumed that no matter how long you have been a hiring manager- or appointed with the task of hiring new employees in your department- you have certainly met a vast array of people. Some are qualified, some are leid. Some are quiet and shy, while others are extremely bold and outgoing. You can never really know what you are going to get. If you have been working in this position for quite some time, then chances are nothing surprises you anymore. Candidates will walk in without a clue about the company, some may be sloppily dressed and others may be chomping down on a stick of gum like a cow chewing its last bestattungs of grass. Although you may have seen everything already, there are still a few job seekers that can manage to puzzle you.Chief among them are the aggressive job seekers. So often job posts will clearly state, Please no calls about this position. After all, as the hiring manager you already have enough to fil ter through without having to answer phone calls about the job as well. So when it comes to filling a position and moving forward in the hiring process, are aggressive job seekers good or bad?It seems as though there is no clear-cut yes or no answer to this question. At the core, it depends heavily on what your company culture is like. With the extreme use of social media in the recruiting and hiring process, proper etiquette for the job search has become a bit fuzzy. Job seekers can now easily reach out to a company through LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook gaining tons more information than before. They can easily grab hold of contact information and, without thinking twice, can call and send emails questioning your open position. While most companies prefer not to indulge in the aggressiveness of a job seeker, making a lasting impression and being memorable is definitely expected from candidates. It seems as though there is a fine line between a desperate job seeker and an aggressive job seeker that is sincerely interested and excited in the position. If a candidate gives you a call, even when you specifically state not to, but delivers a message that both intrigues you and leaves a memorable impression, do you discount them simply because they were aggressive? Likely no, since this aggressive job seeker not only went out of their way to get your attention but once they had it they secured it with their skill. However, an aggressive job seeker that sends countless emails on whether or not you received their resume may not fit in so nicely with the latter, and their resume will likely be discarded. So when is an aggressive job seeker not acceptable by any means?Multiple CallsA while back we discussed how hiring is much like dating. The fine dance between job seekers and employers can end up a disaster, or a great union. We can hark back to this comparison and apply it to our aggressive job seeker. No one appreciates multiple calls from the same person- job seeke r or date. As stated earlier, it may be annoying for a job seeker to call you about an open position, but what if you like what they have to say? While some employers may oppose this greatly, it depends on you and what you find acceptable. What is not acceptable, however, is a job seeker that calls multiple times inquiring about the job. If they are going to call out of the blue, once should be enough. If you have received their resume and find them to be qualified, then reach out to them.Candidate ExperienceA great way to avoid the above scenario from desperate, or aggressive, job seekers is to be a polite employer. If you have whittled your list of qualified candidates down, then let the other applicants know that they did not make the cut. Job seekers often complain about the lack of interaction or feedback from employers in the hiring process. Communicating with your job seekers can help you to avoid the multiple calls from aggressive job seekers. Make sure you are creating a go od candidate experience so that aggressive or desperate job seekers are hindered.Lying on a ResumeDid you know that 21 percent of job seekers lie, or exaggerate, on their resume? Keep this statistic in mind if you stumble upon an aggressive job seeker that seems too good to be true. They just might be Be sure to check out a candidates past work experience and make sure they have the skills they say they have. You can do this by checking references and administering a skill test of some sort during the hiring process. They may be telling the truth, but you want to be sure you arent being played by an aggressive job seeker anxious to get the job. There is a difference between desperate job seekers and aggressive job seekers. Most employers would say they appreciate an aggressive job seeker that knows what they want and is determined. However, that aggressive job seeker can easily turn into a desperate one. Be sure to focus on candidate experience during your hiring process to ensure yo u are presenting a good one. Not doing so may result in a frenzy of desperate job seekers- and more work for you in the end.Have you dealt with aggressive job seekers in the past?
